Under the leadership of the image processing research group at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) the DFG research unit (Forschergruppe) "Image Sequence Analysis to Investigate Dynamic Processes" was founded in December 1995. Novel visualization techniques and image sequence analysis techniques are applied to solve key questions in environmental physics and botany. Common to all projects is the study of dynamical processes, especially growth and transport processes, for which no adequate experimental techniques are available so far.
The work of the DFG research unit will be presented in the Second External Workshop in September 2000.

Project A: Image Sequence Analysis (Core Project)
Project B: Wind Waves, Turbulence and Exchange Processes at the Ocean Surface
Project C: Analysis of Global Gas Emissions from Multispectral Image Sequences
Project D: Time and Space-Resolved Measurements of Growth in Plants
Project E: Fluorescence imaging of Ca2+-Regulation in Muscle Fibres and Motor Protein Motility
Project F: Study of functional organisation of chromatine in cell nuclei, multi-dimensional pathology of genomes

A complete overview of the work accomplished by the research unit within the first two years can be found in the progress report (4Mbyte pdf file).
An overview of the work done since then can be found in the progress report of the second phase (6Mbyte pdf file).
